Yamaha FJR1400

According to a report on Moto Revue, Yamaha are looking at taking on the Kawasaki 1400GTR in a big way by launching an updated FJR – the FJR1400 – towards the end of this year. Apart from its 1400cc inline-four, the new FJR is expected to get bits like the latest-generation anti-lock brakes, traction control and a semi-automatic gearbox that offers clutchless gear shifts.

As we said in an earlier post here, Suzuki are also expected to launch a Hayabusa-based 1300GT sports-tourer by year-end, while Kawasaki are expected to offer ECU updates on their 1400GTR for improved power delivery. And Honda may finally unveil their V5-powered VFR1000, which would replace the VFR800 and the erstwhile CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. So looks like it’s exciting times ahead for sports-tourers

Hyundai i10 Becomes Hyundai Flagship Model

Hyundai i10

Hyundai i10

Hyundai i10 sales figures have touched 12,000 units per month making it the flagship model of the company. Hyundai launched its small car model Santro in September 1998 which has been the flagship model for the company ever since it was launched. Now i10 sales have taken over Santro sales clearly depicting that customer preferences are moving towards bigger cars even in the compact car segment.

“We follow a multi-model strategy and look at consolidated sales of Santro and i10. Sales of the Santro and i10 together contribute a sizable chunk of the compact car segment and it adds to a larger customer base,” said Hyundai’s spokesperson about i10’s improved performance. Hyundai expects i10 sales figures to reach 1,40,000 units this year while expected sales of Santro are 87,000 units.

I10 has witnessed higher sales in spite of being priced higher than Santro due to its contemporary styling and superior technology. Hyundai has been pushing i10 in the urban markets while Santro is being marketed in semi-urban and rural markets. Hyundai is also planning to introduce an electric variant of i10 at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo. The new i10 Electric represents Hyundai’s growing expertise to conceive, design and develop vehicles in line with its vision of focusing on environmentally friendly vehicles.

Hyundai Tiburon Streat Concept

Hyundai Tiburon Streat Concept

Hyundai conducted minor tweaks to the ‘GK’ model in 2005, for the outgoing named 2006. The vehicle incorporated reworked sleeker blackened headlights, redesigned rear tail lights, a different range of alloy wheel designs, colored stitching on leather seats (half leather seats available for the 1.6 range). A popular modification, as promoted on www.newtiburon.com, saw owners of the 2003 vehicle removing the air-filter resonator box. The resonator box was located directly in front of the front left hand side wheel, behind the fender. This allowed for a greater airflow to the air filter, gaining a minimal increase of (BHP). Hyundai, seeking cost cuts, adopted this modification for 2004+ models.

The 2007 model has seen minor changes in interior & exterior design. Most notably the previously amber gauge and button lighting has been changed to blue and white, similar to what can be found in the line. Exterior changes include muted side scalloping, new headlights and grille design and revised tail lights.

According to him, with a bigger tank at the top will give room for our feet 'in' attached to the frame. "When an accident (falling) body of the tank will give the defense a bit in order to not only keep our feet on the asphalt bike weight, such as the function of the frame slider," said Kristanto.

It's better than a motorcycle segment continues to sag, evicted by the type skutik.

From Suzukijoe's visit to Willow Springs.

Pit Boss, the motorcycle concept for wiseguys

The guys at Custom Eyes Concepts have come up with a rather unique motorcycle concept, but not at all implausible. In fact, the Pit Boss, as it is called, actually looks a bit old and that is mainly due to design inspirations from the cars back in the 1950s. More precisely, show off cars such as the ones you would have seen being driven by the early Vegas "wiseguy" aka casino pit manager aka pit boss. And that’s where the name comes from.

CEC claims that “mixing those themes with modern design concepts results in a true embodiment of the emotion and stature evoked by the real pitboss, in this one-of-a-kind custom motorcycle design.” More pictures after the jump.

VertiGO Electric Motorcycle

It took a student working on his masters to create a concept for an electric motorcycle. We’re sure Maarten Timmer wondered with us on when electric motorcycles will appear, so he created this VertiGO Electric Motorcycle concept. Timmer’s idea features a tailsection and saddle cantilevered instead of the usual area where the gas tank is located. As a concept, not many details are yet known. Would you like to see Electric Motorcycles in the road soon?

2010 Hyundai ‘YF’ Sonata Illustration

hyundai-sonata_yf_2010_concept_03

Early-bird ‘YF’ 2011 Hyundai Sonata fans YFLove.net have put together this illustration, showing their idea of what we might be able to expect when the camouflage finally comes off the next all-new Sonata.

The new Sonata has been spotted around South Korea in recent weeks during testing, and the more revealing the camouflage becomes, the more we can probably expect to see of these artist renderings. (You will have seen one illustration that’s been floating around for a while now.)

hyundai-sonata_yf_2010_concept_03

Whatever the eventual lines of the ‘YF’ Sonata, it’s clear that Hyundai’s volume-selling family sedan is taking on a much sharper, style-focused appearance.

From the coupe-like roofline to the long sloping bonnet and sharply angled headlights, Hyundai is obviously planning big things for the 2010 Sonata.

The Suzuki C109R establishes its own identity with its styling. Hyundai Recalls Sonata Sedans Over Door Latch Glitch

Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Motor Co. on Wednesday announced a voluntary recall of its new Sonata sedan, its most important new model this year, in South Korea and the U.S. to fix faulty latches on the vehicle's front doors.

The action—which affects 46,000 cars in South Korea and 1,300 in the U.S.—came after customers in the U.S. complained that, in certain circumstances, the latch gets stuck after the door is opened and then can't be closed.

A company spokeswoman said the problem happens when a passenger simultaneously pulls the door latch and holds down the lock, an unusual circumstance but common enough to send the company scrambling for a fix.

There have been no accidents or injuries reported to the company in connection with the problem. But it came at a time of increased scrutiny on vehicle flaws, shaped mainly by troubles at Toyota Motor Corp., the world's largest auto maker by vehicle sales. That company in recent weeks has been forced to recall several models to deal with quality issues. Toyota President Akio Toyoda was set to appear before U.S. lawmakers Wednesday.

Shares in Hyundai Motor fell 2.6% on the Korea Stock Exchange after news of the recall emerged. Some analysts said they believed investors overreacted and that the financial impact of the recall would be minimal.
